Pretty neat the Japanese style wallpaper don’t you think? Well - here’s how I made it! Ok - here we go. Start with creating a new document sized 1920×1200 pixels with all the default settings and add in a color of #96a0f9 to the background. Create a new one layer. Select Brush Tool and a soft round brush with size about 200 px. Make a couple of strokes, using different colors, for example #ff7afd, #4d57d2, #4ccaff and #bda2f3. Apply Filter > Blur > Gaussian Blur with the next presets: After that use Filter > Blur > Motion Blur with similar settings to these: We have something like this: Ok, merge all layers in one and apply one more Filter > Texture > Texturizer using the next presets: Now we have a relief like this: Time to add some Japanese patterns to the background. Ok, we can do this by using Japanese brushes. Feel free to download it from here. Now get out the Dodge Tool (Range: Hightlights, 30%) and do a little bit of dodge-work on the background. We should have an image like below: Ok, now I would like to add a couple of semi-transparent lines to type Japanese hieroglyph there. We can do this by using Pen Tool with the white color. Then duplicate layer and modify copied layer with Direct Selection Tool. Actually, you can change the color of the shape to see the difference. Make the same things two of times. Set fill opacity to 0% up for each of four shapes and apply the Drop Shadow and Inner Glow layer styles to each layer. After that actions duplicate all of four layers, then press Ctrl+T to to miniaturize it, rotate 180 degrees and move into the upper right corner of the canvas. Time to bring some Japanese hieroglyphs to the lines. Get out the Horizontal Type Tool and click on your path, this will put your text on the path you’ve just made. The font I used below (Japanese) is commercial. Feel free to use another one with hieroglyphs or buy or get somewhere this one. Write out your text like mine: Add the text to each of lines. You can use different colors for your text lines. Ok, now let’s add some logotype to wallpaper. Get out the Horizontal Type Tool (just the regular one) and write out something like ‘Amazing Japan’ using EPISODE1 font (60pt, Crisp Anti-aliasing). It is free. You can download it from here. Then apply the Outer Glow, Gradient Overlay and Stroke layer styles to the text. Ok, now apply Select >Load Selection, then use Select > Modify > Contract and modify the selection about 2 px. Create a new one layer, select Gradient Tool and a white to transparent gradient, fill in the selected area as on picture below: Make a new selection by using Rectangular Marquee Tool and clear the selected area. Press Ctrl+D to remove the selection. Change layer mode to Overlay. Then Get out the Horizontal Type Tool again and write out some hieroglyphs using Japanese font or another one instead this font. Then duplicate this layer and apply Filter > Blur > Gaussian Blur for copied layer. Looking great now! But I think we should add some graphic elements to our canvas. I would like to add some flowers. Get out the Custom Shape Tool and select Flower 1 Shape (this is standard shape) using white color. You can make a couple of flowers. Ok, now apply the Outer Glow, Gradient Overlay and Stroke layer styles to each of flowers. You’d now have this: Looking great! Don’t you think? So, I would like to add some white stars, flashes and dots to wallpaper. Do this by using Brush Tool and different standard brushes on the new layer. And the last one thing that I want to add some white spots to our wallpaper. Create a new one layer, then select Brush Tool and a soft round brush with size of 300px, after that make three of strokes using white color. Your image should look as mine: Then apply Filter > Blur > Gaussian Blur with similar settings to these: Now change layer mode to Overlay. Ok - we’re done!
